  • Completed: 2008
  • Client: Queens Hall Arts Centre

Project Info:

Brief: A neglected shell was converted 20 years ago by the County Council and was in need of updating both as a contemporary arts centre and to become accessible moving towards DDA compliance in 2004.

Design: Three phases of work since 2002 have revitalised the building, consisting of a refurbished entrance foyer, theatre and performance space retrofit, and the renovation of the North Wing to provide lettable units for creative industries.

Bright, modern finishes combined with a sensitive approach to revealing and restoring the historic features have helped the arts centre modernise whilst retaining and enhancing its identity.
